On the parapet wall edge there are a few remaining anti-climb stakes from the Victorian period, estimated to have been installed about 1850.

The anti-personnel spikes, similar to the iron rings on the Upper Rock, have been sunk into a lead fill.


At least one of these spikes has already been removed.  They are it is believed unique in Gibraltar, and should be protected.
