Mesh: This mesh was used on the water catchment area to keep area clean, in the same way that modernday kettles have a mesh ball to help keep limescale off the inside of a kettle, this mesh kept weeds of the face of the catchment area.

The collection of water was vital to supply water for any defenders if there was any siiege.
