Three loopholes set into south rock face below Parsons Lodge.
These three loopholes form part of a Vickers Machine Gun position built below Parsons Lodge. A visit to the underground cave reveals that there are two embrasures for the Machine Guns and one central observation/fire control point. In addition, to the west, and not shown on the image, there is a prone position built into a natural fissure in the rock. This would appear suitable for a Bren gun or sniper operating in a prone position.
This MG position can be reached either by steps down from the terreplain on Parsons Lodge, or through a wooden doorway which open onto the road in the tunnel leading to Picnic Bay. The site was visited in 2013 and 2016 and has just been cleaned out. It is in good condition.
