This Battery is located forward of the old medieval walls.

In 1859 there was the following armaments mounted 2 x 24 lbs.

By 1886 this had been upgraded to 2 x 24 Carronade  and 2 x 7ins RBL.  These RBL were relatively new light rifled guns.
