ES9-4 Infantry Fort
Posted on March 12, 2016 / 747
poi type : Loopholed Wall
Location : Gibraltar

There is evidence that there was an infantry fort along the small outcrop that stick into the sea.

Large concrete blocks remain which we thought may have been musketry loop holes.  We have been advised by one contributor that these are not loopholes. They are remnants of concrete parapet walls that were part of the housing blocks at Varyl Begg Estate. They were removed when new roofs were installed on these buildings. Some sections were deposited here some years ago as an impromptu boundary wall. (Thanks Ian).
