poi type : Air Raid Shelter
Location : Gibraltar
Condition : Good

WWII 1939 Gibraltar City Council No.10 A.R.P. Shelter – Prince Edward’s Road by Gowlands Ramp with room for 450 (?) people. The original Plan does not match this?

It is believed that this in fact had a capacity of 300 based on the map later added.

This Air Raid Shelter is located immediately below Raglan Battery.  In the steps, that lead up the front to Raglan Battery, there is a tunnel door.  We have been told that this tunnel under the Battery linked up with the Number 4 Air Raid Shelter.  This is not been confirmed.

The capacity was 300 people.

Now used as a Car Park.

The present private owner of Raglan Battery told JPC in 2013 that he had a tunnel down from the battery terreplain, down to this tunnel system.

Note – need to check GPS Corodinates for tunnel entrance
