Half buried by the road, opposite to the former Middle Hill battery, formerly six 9-inch High Aagle Fire guns, is believed to be one of the base plates for these guns. It lies partially buried by the roadside. This variant of the gun was a Mark VI High Angle Fire of 12 tons.
